This Lamb Shanks on Mashed Potato recipe is the perfect meal for a cozy dinner at home.

4 High Quality lamb shanks, bone-in
2 Tbsp Tweed Real Food Louisiana BBQ Rub
2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup lamb broth
- 1 cup red wine
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or rosemary, chopped, for garnish
- 4-6 servings of mashed potatoes, prepared according to your preference
Preheat the oven to 180C
Rub the Louisiana BBQ Rub blend all over the lamb shanks.
In a Dutch oven or large oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the lamb shanks and sear on all sides until browned, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove the shanks from the pot and set aside.
Add the onion, garlic to the pot and sauté for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
Pour in the beef or lamb broth, red wine. Stir to combine.
Add the lamb shanks back into the pot, making sure they are submerged in the liquid. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cover the pot and place it in the preheated oven. Cook for 2-2.5 hours, or until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.
While the lamb shanks are cooking, prepare the mashed potatoes according to your preference.
Once the lamb shanks are done, remove the pot from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Using tongs, remove the lamb shanks from the pot and place them on top of your mashed potato.
