Add hot, but not boiling, water or your favourite milk and stir or blend until smooth and creamy.
Enjoy it pure, or add cinnamon, raw honey, coconut sugar or your preferred sweetener.
Then make the moment your own. Journal. Meditate. Sit outside. Breathe. Or simply wrap your hands around your cup and enjoy a few quiet minutes to yourself.

How does Ceremonial Cacao compare to Supermarket Hot Chocolate?
Not all cacao drinks are created equal.
Many supermarket drinking chocolates and hot chocolate mixes contain added sugar alongside cocoa powder and, depending on the product, ingredients such as milk solids, glucose syrup, flavours, starches, thickeners or emulsifiers.
TruSelf Ceremonial Cacao is different.
It's made from 100% organic Peruvian Criollo cacao paste. One ingredient. Nothing added. Nothing removed.
Unlike cocoa powder, ceremonial cacao paste retains the cacao bean's naturally occurring cacao butter rather than having much of it separated during processing. This creates its naturally rich, creamy and full-bodied character.
TruSelf Ceremonial Cacao
- 100% cacao paste
- No added sugar
- No fillers
- No preservatives
- No dairy
- No artificial flavours
- Naturally occurring cacao butter retained
Many supermarket hot chocolate mixes
- Combine cocoa powder with other ingredients
- Often contain added sugar
- May contain milk solids, starches, flavours or other additives
- Are formulated primarily to create a sweet chocolate drink
This isn't powdered hot chocolate with a wellness label. It's whole cacao, simply prepared.
What is ceremonial cacao?
Ceremonial cacao is whole cacao made into a paste rather than cocoa powder. TruSelf is made from 100% Peruvian Criollo cacao paste, retaining its naturally occurring cacao butter.
What does ceremonial cacao taste like?
Rich, deep and intensely chocolatey. Because TruSelf contains no added sugar, it isn't sweet like traditional hot chocolate. Add your favourite milk or a little sweetness if you prefer.
Is ceremonial cacao a good alternative to coffee?
It can be a beautiful alternative if you want to change your ritual. Rather than trying to imitate coffee, cacao gives you a rich, warming drink around which you can create a slower, more intentional start to the day.
Does ceremonial cacao contain caffeine?
Yes. Cacao naturally contains some caffeine as well as theobromine. Individual sensitivity varies, so consider beginning with a smaller amount if you're particularly sensitive to stimulants.
When is the best time to drink ceremonial cacao?
Whenever it fits your ritual. Enjoy it in the morning, while journalling or meditating, or as an afternoon reset. If you're sensitive to stimulants, you may prefer not to drink it close to bedtime.
Do I need to meditate or have a cacao ceremony?
Not at all. Your ritual can be as simple as making a cup and taking ten quiet minutes for yourself. Journal, meditate, sit outside, set an intention or simply enjoy your cacao.
I've never tried ceremonial cacao. Which size should I choose?
Start with the 180g Gentle Beginning for approximately nine 20g serves. The 400g Daily Ritual provides approximately 20 serves, while the 800g Ceremony Pack provides approximately 40 serves and offers the best value at around $1.88 per 20g cup.
Can I make ceremonial cacao with milk?
Yes. Prepare it with hot water, your favourite milk or a combination of both. Plant-based milks are particularly good for a creamy cup. Heat gently and avoid boiling.
Do I need to add sweetener?
No. TruSelf contains no added sugar, so you control the sweetness. Drink it pure or add raw honey, coconut sugar, cinnamon or your preferred sweetener.
Can I drink ceremonial cacao every day?
Ceremonial cacao can be enjoyed as part of a daily ritual. How much and how often you choose to enjoy it is personal. TruSelf's nutrition information is based on a 20g serving.
Is ceremonial cacao the same as cocoa powder?
No. Much of the naturally occurring cacao butter is removed during the production of cocoa powder. Ceremonial cacao paste retains its cacao butter, creating a richer, creamier, full-bodied drink.
Is ceremonial cacao the same as hot chocolate?
No. Many hot chocolate mixes combine cocoa powder with sugar and other ingredients. TruSelf contains one ingredient: 100% ceremonial-grade cacao paste, with no added sugar, dairy, fillers or artificial flavours.
How should I store ceremonial cacao?
Keep the pouch sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Because cacao naturally contains cacao butter, its appearance or texture can change slightly depending on temperature.
